EQUIP.
We do not want to be an organization that brings up people dependent on foreign “aid”. We want to live in relationship with people, partnering with them and equipping them through building infrastructure so that they can help one another from within their own communities. Together we can work towards sustainable solutions to fight against poverty in Iganga and Lamwo districts. |
Our Village Uganda currently owns 28 acres of land. We plan for our land to be a gathering place for our community where they can receive training and also where we can model different income-generating practices. Our goal is to equip people so that they have the means to provide for areas of need from within their very communities rather than having to rely on aid from outside. To become a fully self-sustaining project we must equip Ugandan’s with the education and tools they need to carry it themselves.
In 2016 24% of our outreach funding went into equipping members in our communities. This was done through job opportunities working on our farm, agricultural and tailoring skills training, as well as business start-ups. By empowering the parents, the whole family can benefit - we hope to do even more of this in 2017. We love seeing the pride and delight in parents as they share the ways they are providing for their children.
We also of brought infrastructure to our community through building a quality school, multi-purpose hall, deep water well and playground. We also have multi-purpose lodging buildings that allow for children and adults to come and stay at our site to receive education and/or training when they do not have such opportunities in their own communities.
Empowering communities from within Uganda, equipping them with education and infrastructure so that they can build long-lasting solutions from within their own communities. All rooted in the word of life, that they may be “thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16).
If you are interested in partnering with us with any of our projects or would like to learn about our other needs and projects check out our Equip - Helping Hand Book to get more of the costs involved.
