EDUCATE

Our School offers holistic care for orphans and vulnerable children. We partner with the living relatives of the children so that they aren’t abandoned to an institution but instead remain connected with their family and culture. Together we make sure that the children receive the nutrition, healthcare, education and love they need to grow up healthy and holistically, and be empowered to overcome their circumstance.

Education ignites so much within a person and opens new doors of potential that can not be shut. In our area, 89% of children have ZERO access to any reading materials. In the national government primary (elementary) school system there is a 71% drop-out rate. Before our school came to our community none of the elementary schools were providing children with an education that would allow them to go on to Jr/Sr high school. Every child that leaves are school has reached a standard of education that allows them to go onto Jr/Sr High School.

We believe in educating children and adults, and currently, we have:

  • Over 550 children attending our own elementary school
  • Over 70 youth that we have funded to go on to Jr/Sr High or College and Trades schools this year
  • Over 70 children receive scholarships to attend our Elementary School
  • 100's of men and women from our community who have received agricultural training
  • 14 women who are receiving Tailoring Training at OVCP
  • We provide on-going training opportunities for our Ugandan staff at every level

If we are going to put money into education we need to also make sure that children aren't missing school because they are sick and hungry. We serve breakfast and lunch for all of our students. We teach about health and sanitation to our community and the children at our school. This is a way of preventing unnecessary sickness. We also partner with families to help them access to medical care.
