EMPOWER.
The first and most important part of what Our Village Uganda does is empowerment. It is the foundation which everything else is built upon, with the first step being relationships rooted in the love of God. We believe this is the only solid foundation from which to start, as we are all broken people needing love and community. We have seen that when you come alongside someone and are willing to struggle and fight with them, change happens. Relationships give us the courage to fight for solutions. They give us the strength to persevere and the hope that together we can make a difference. The truth is that we all are created equal and all have abilities and skills, but sometimes we need someone to believe in us, to help join us in our journey so that together we can find a way.
This starts with empowering Ugandans to be the ones who are leading change in their own communities. The OVCP advantage is truly our Ugandan staff. The ripple effect and impact of these people is huge! Thanks to them, hundreds of families are no longer struggling alone but have been brought into a beautiful loving community. Since our staff is from the community, they truly know and understand the struggles of the families we partner with. Also, when you partner with us you are empowering OVCP to create jobs for Ugandans. We currently have 28 full-time Ugandan staff and over double that amount that works part-time in our various projects.
All of our programs are intertwined with empowerment and the reality is that without it none of our programs would succeed. We believe in empowering our communities so that they can be their own source of change.
